I've been trekking around with the Case Logic SLR Suspension System backpack ($134.99 direct) for about a month now, and it's a great choice for photographers. It features a nifty "SLR Suspension System," an elastic strap that grips and suspends your SLR, as opposed to having its body or lens rest against other shelving within the bag.  It seems a little gimmicky, but it definitely holds your camera securely.

More pictures and details on this bag, after the jump.

The main compartment of the backpack is one huge space, but it comes with loads of foam blocks that are lined with Velcro: You can place them into bag to make smaller compartments, creating the sizes and shapes you need for lenses and other accessories.

Behind the main compartment is a thinner padded slot for your laptop (up to 17 inches). The straps and back of the bag also have a hefty amount of padding, so you don't feel the laptop pushing against your back. The backpack also has straps on the right that can hold a tripod; the left side and front each have a pouch.

The base of the bag is rubber, so it's ruggedized and waterproof, so you won't have to worry if you accidentally put the bag down on a dirty spot.

Wish I'd had this when I went to France a couple of years ago - couldn't find anything of reasonable size that would hold both a laptop and a D-SLR.
