"Incredibly lifelike" is an understatement: the Hasbro FurReal Lulu My Cuddlin' Kitty ($54.99 list) was SO real, in terms of weight, purr, and movement, that she enchanted Tommy, my 4-year-old boy. And confused (read: frightened) Ava, my 2-year-old girl. That's probably one of the reasons Hasbro recommends this toy for children 4 and up; I think that's right on the money.
My son had a lot of fun petting Lulu and learning the various ways to get her to respond. If you pet her left cheek, she'll move her head toward you; pet her head, and she'll purr and even roll on her back. When she did this, Tommy instinctively patted her belly.
Tommy also enjoyed giving Lulu a grooming with the included comb;
unfortunately, I noticed afterward that Lulu is a shedder. Tommy had
strands of her fur on his head, shirt, and pants.
Tommy appreciated Lulu's cuddle-factor. I can't say she had the same
effect on my daughter, Ava, who pulled her blanket over her head the
whole time Lulu was turned on. (I could hear her, from beneath the
blanket, reassuring her stuffed Curious George that Lulu was not to be
feared--"It's OK, George; not real.")
I finally had to put Lulu in the
closet so Ava would take off the blanket. Tommy and I pulled her out
during Ava's naptime, though, and had more fun petting her and making
her purr. Post by Stephanie Chang

I would love to have one of those, but the price is our of reach of my budget. Love little Ava consoling herself by talking to Curious George that it isn't real wile she keeps her head under her blanket. She will warm up to the cat eventualy.
