Best Buy's Mobile retail unit announced that it is discounting two Android-powered Sprint smartphones, the HTC Hero and the Samsung Moment, to just $99.99 with a two-year contract and after instant rebates. Both phones previously cost $179.99 up front. The special offers will run through December.

The HTC Hero is a touch screen with the company's intuitive HTC Sense interface. The Samsung Moment is a horizontal QWERTY slider with a faster 800 MHz CPU and a vibrant AMOLED capacitive touch screen display.

Sprint's smartphone lineup is pretty strong lately, even though it lacks the star power of the iPhone 3GS and the Motorola Droid. In addition to the HTC Hero and Samsung Moment, Sprint also sells the Palm Pre, the HTC Touch Pro2, and the BlackBerry Tour 9630 all vying for supremacy--and often at discounted prices as well. The Samsung Instinct HD, meanwhile, remains the only feature phone to both record 720p HD video and output standalone 720p videos to an HDMI-equipped HDTV.
