Is Amazon's $99 Palm Pre offer still too rich for your blood? How does $79 sounds? That's the new going rate over at Wal-Mart. The mega retailers have begun dropping the price on the handset (originally released with a $149 price tag) in anticipation of Palm's second sleek WebOS handset, the Palm Pixi. The deal, naturally, comes with the standard two-year contract with Sprint.

Of course you could always just wait until the phone comes to Verizon, but who knows when that will happen?
