It's hard not to root for the underdog--even when that underdog is another multi-national corporation. Sony last week overtook Apple's iPod in Japanese sales for the first time in over four years. The Walkman managed to nab a 43-percent music player market share in that country, edging out Apple's 42.1-percent.
It's the first time the company has managed that feat in its native country since January 2005. It'll be interesting to see how long Sony will be able to maintain its lead, especially in light of the expected iPod refreshing occurring in roughly a week.
