The promise of two new Android handsets from Motorola wasn't quite fulfilled during today's GigaOm Mobilize 09 conference. The handset manufacturer's CEO Sanjay Jha happy showed off the new Cliq for T-Mobile, the handset previously known as Morrison.
Jha also promised a second phone debuting in "the coming weeks." The handset may well be the finalized version of the device codenamed Sholes, which is expected to be available for Verizon, making it the first Android phone for that carrier.

Wasn't the phone used in the video presentation for the MotoBlur service a Sholes? Looked like it, was diff than the phones Sanjay and T-Mobile Guy were holding for the "significant pause" later on.

Verizon is kinda getting on my nerves. Just seems like: A - They're arrogant as fu*k, and B - They have no balls when it comes to being exclusive. Like when Apple offered iPhone exclusivity, they told them to get lost. The same boring, clumsy smartphone line-up they offer just looks obsolete. They thought they had something with the Storm, but that flopped. If it wasn't for LG, and they're ability to provide so many phones across the board, I don't think anybody would sign with them. And I guess while Im getting it all out, I might as well mention the fact that VZWs data charges are almost insulting to a customer. Suppose you press the MobileWeb button accidentally it would still amount to almost fifty cents of MB usuage. I dunno, Im kinda p/o'd about Verizon. I wanted an iPhone, and I still contemplate it in my head every day. But now after seeing an Android phone, Im totally swayed being that I never really paid it much attention. Convinced and rerouted towards Android (MotoSholes) _ Verizon and 'the NOTwork' just still don't get it.

I have to agree. Verizon is missing the boat. They have a great network and loyal customers but they can't seem to get their heads out of the sand and give the market what they've been craving for.
I would love an iPhone but if I cannot get it the Android would be the next best thing. That phone is killer and would bring Verizon a ton of new revenue for phones and possibly new customers. I talk to At&t customers with iPhone and they say their service sucks in lots of places but they deal with it because the iPhone is so sweet!

Hey Adumbzz,
Lets talk about what you don't know, and there is a lot. Verizon has every right to be cocky, they are second to none in terms of quality of service, coverage, network, and device lineup. Also the reason Verizon passed on the iPhone was that Apple demanded to be paid revenue for every iPhone on their network. Being in a position of financial strength, Verizon refused to write a check to Apple every month for iPhone users. Last, if you don't want to be charged for using data, block access. Or subscribe to a data package, it's really that simple.
