HTC_Touch_Pro2_Verizon.jpg

HTC and Verizon have unveiled the latter's version of the HTC Touch Pro2, a large, chunky, horizontal slider with a 3.6-inch touch screen. The Touch Pro2 features a speakerphone with asymmetric speakers and advanced noise suppression, along with an updated version of HTC's TouchFLO 3D user interface.

The Touch Pro2 is a combination CDMA and GSM world phone with EV-DO Rev A data support here in the U.S. It also has Wi-Fi, a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto-focus, a Qualcomm MSM 7600A 528MHz CPU, and 288MB of RAM. The 6.3-ounce device comes with an extended 1500 mAh battery promising over five hours of talk time.

Despite the Touch Pro2's archaic Windows Mobile 6.1 underpinnings, the handset has proven to be a stellar competitor on both T-Mobile and Sprint. On Sprint, it's currently our Editors' Choice for smartphones. Stay tuned for a full view of the Verizon version to see if it measures up. The Touch Pro2 will cost $299 with a two-year contract, before a $100 mail-in rebate debit card that (sort of) brings the price to $199. Order yours beginning tomorrow form www.verzionwireless.com.
