XM satellite radio, Bluetooth, and iPod/USB adapters are standard across the line with 2010 Acura models. Many have Bluetooth audio as well. By building them in, it reduces cost (compared to buying the options a la carte), avoids model complexity, and likely increases safety. While there's ongoing discussion about the hazards of distracted driving from using a cellphone or tuning a music player while driving, most people - if not every researcher - believes there has to be some benefit from not holding a cellphone in one hand and driving with the other, even if there is distraction from absorbing the information in the call, hands-free or not. With satellite radio, odds are more people will keep the subscription going beyond the first three months free when it's in every vehicle. This is a win for customers and for Acura.
When automakers make these popular features optional, prices can range from $200 to $500 for each. One exception to the XM, Bluetooth, and iPod-standard line: the base-level Acura MDX SUV, which accounts for about 20% of MDX sales, has XM and Bluetooth but lacks a USB jack.
Bottom line: Acura is one of the few automakers making standard the stuff most buyers want: Bluetooth for safety, convenience, and because hands-free is the law; iPod adapter because who doesn't have one; and satellite radio because more people sign up if the chip and antenna come pre-installed.

Very good - I wonder how many auto manufacturers DON'T have aux jacks or iPod connections standard on their vehicles these days.
I know a number of them still only make them standard on higher-end models, or in "technology packages," but I'd be curious to see how many make at least an Aux-In jack standard across all models.

Virtually every automaker's radio now has an aux-in jack. Apple has the chutzpah to call that iPod compatibility. The right way is a USB jack, free, that accepts iPods, Zunes, memory keys, and etcetera. It costs a couple dollars vs. as much as $500 when you have it as an option (more commonly around $200).
