MagellanMaestro4700.jpg

Better features at lower prices: That's the path for all consumer technology, but GPS navigators are on a fast track. Look a the just-launched Magellan Maestro 4700: it delivers a 4.7-inch screen, 3D landmarks on the map view, Bluetooth connectivity, and voice commands. It lists for $299.99, so you'll probably be able to pick it up for quite a bit less.

Buyers have shown they prefer GPS devices in the $99 range, simply to have on hand for those times when they're unsure of directions. The challenge for GPS makers is to convince them to pay more for a premium model. With the Maestro 4700, Magellan has thrown in just about everything you could want. It offers the company's new OneTouch menu, which lets you access your favorites--such as the Home button or a frequent search--from any screen. It also offers predictive traffic, which looks at historic traffic patters when creating routes.

If giant parking lots give you trouble, you'll like the "Find Your Car" feature, which remembers where you parked. This Maestro also offers larger fonts, which help you skim information quickly while driving.

For more info on the Maestro 4700, check out the product page on Magellan's site.
