Activision has enlisted Grammy Award-winning producer and world-famous turntablist DJ Jazzy Jeff to help set the virtual stage for DJ Hero.
This game from the producers of Guitar Hero are now bringing a different sort of musical culture to the table. DJ Hero allows players to take over 100 different songs and blend them into a new funky remix.
"I am very, very excited DJ culture is finally getting its due. To have a song in DJ Hero is a dream come true; to be a character someone can pick up the controller and select you and play is probably the biggest thing to happen to me in my career," said DJ Jazzy Jeff. "Music is so much a part of everyone's life, DJ Hero is going to appeal to almost everybody."
DJ Hero is set to be released in October 2009.

Hah - that's really cool!
Admittedly, I'll be waiting to see what other real DJs think about DJ hero, and trying desperately when I inevitably wind up playing it to not geek out and try to describe what really spinning vinyl is like to my friends who are playing with me. I don't want to be THAT guy - you know, the one who played guitar hero and kept commenting about how it's not like playing a real guitar?
