Have you downloaded and installed the new 3.0 software on your original iPhone or iPhone 3G? Were you among those waiting in line to pick up the new iPhone 3G S? Apple has done a pretty good job selling consumers on the advantages of the handset's new software, but as is the case with any new products, there are bound to be some bugs.

If you've experienced any issues with the software--or even if your experience has been flawless--we'd like to hear from you in our comments section. What sort of issues have you run into? Have you been able to resolve them? If so, how?

It was not worth the time to download it. I have seen no noticeable download increase but oh wow I have cut and paste, voice recorder and MMS that is not supported by AT&T.

My apps like undead, imob and imafia don't open full all the time and crash.

My signal strength seems to have gotten worse. I have gotten alot more dropped calls and I am having voice mail messages issues, phone does not ring but people have called the the next day boom I have missed calls and lots of voice mails.

The only thing I really wanted was the voice command but apple changed their mind and did not release it in o.s. 3. You have to buy the 3gs phone to get it.

Overall a waste of time, better off jailbreaking and running android

The 3.0 update is nice with all of the landscape keyboards but it's noticably slower than 2.2. The YouTube app isn't working for me either.

I have an iPhone 3G and 3G S. The 3.0 Update on a 3G iPhone is excellent and 3.0 on a 3G S iPhone is outstanding and really fast. I have Tiger Woods golf game in both phones and the game playing on 3G S is super fast, I would say about 3x faster, if not more.

I upgraded on the 17th,at first everything was fine then i started getting little faults like closing down an app and going back to the home page, also it is very laggy not like an Apple product at all more like microsofts offreing. The latest problem is,i was listening to music and i recieved a text then the phone turned itself off and i can't turn it back on.Also it is much slower than 2.2,as soon as i get home i'm retoring back to 2.2.For me this upgrade isn't worth it,my phone needs to be reliable as i need it for work (24hr call out)and this is just not good enough.

sadly, it's no better than the last iPhone. Yes, it has a slightly faster processor to give you the perception that it's downloads are faster, when in reality, it's simply better able to handle the data it's grabbing rather then choking on it. Otherwise, it' really no better. I'm taking mine back.

I have iPhone 3G, upgraded to 3.0 and every since Thursday it drains my battery in a few hours even if I am not using it. Looking for anyone else facing same issue before I go and check in at the Genius bar..

have both a 16GB 3G and a new 32GB 3GS. Updated the 3G to 3.0 before it was released to the public (i love torrent sites) and found the OS update to be an improvement, I was enjoying the update very much.

Friday morning came and at 07:00 EDT I made my way to my local AT&T Shop where I was met with no line and guy with a clipboard who asked my name and then cross checked a few times to be sure I was not an impostor trying to pick up my iPhone (thank God for that). 10 minutes later I walked out with my new 32GB 3GS woohoo.

The new hardware is identical in size and shape and weight so my InCase Slider fit right on (woohoo). So far my favorite new thing is the compass and it's ability to correctly orient Google Maps (very cool). New camera is a major plus (auto focus and tap to focus) are very cool features. Video quality is very good and the auto-white-balance and auto-focus features make for a mostly positive experience.

The comment by thecolor should be removed, it is obviously a joke or an attempt to spread misinformation, the device is noticeably faster to boot with app loads as well as with games. I've got all weekend to play and discover more....

Overall a solid upgrade experience for me, no issues at all with activation or with restoring my 32GB 3GS form my 6am 3G backup and sync. 100% totally seamless.

I've also noticed that my iPhone 3G's battery drains much faster after I upgraded to 3.0. Big difference...

June 21, 2009 1:52 AM

I am noticing the same thing - my iPhone 3G's battery drains at lightning speed even though I am not using it at all! It just sits there and the battery indicator will start changing from 90% to 75% to 30%. Today I made a few phone calls and check some emails and it was already down to only 20% of battery!

I made an appointment with Genius Bar in a few days and I'll make sure I ask them about this because if this turns out to be the case I may have to start carrying my cable with me ANYWHERE I go....argh.

My 3g is slower than before. Even typing isn't as quick. Messages take ages to load and my battery also drains in one day. It used to last 3 days. What have apple done? This is terrible. I'm very upset. I wanna smash it it's slow so.

After it was draining battery in 4hours I replaced my phone (warranty replacement for same 3G model). same issue. it drains battery within 3-4 hours and would not even charge it completely. charging is very slow (any method, car, laptop or plug in). also applications are slow. so it is definitely a problem with 3.0 update.
DO NOT UPGRADE to 3.0 nothing worth upgrading in it.
cut/paste can wait.

Add me to the list of folks whose battery drains a lot faster. Even when it's just sitting there the battery drains. Frustrating to say the least.

I like the software. Apple addressed many annoying practices in 2.0 and added new features I didn't expect. I recommend that 2.0 users upgrade. I'm still curious about the G3 S phone and plan to look at them today.

Downloaded 3.0 to 3G phone. Battery does seem to drain faster. Some programs kick me back out to icon screen.

Update out iPhone on the first day it was available. It did not take the update on the first try and had to go to restore mode, which of course meant I had to reload all our aps. Sense the update the text messaging does not allow me to reply, I have to go into the text message ap and start at the beginning calling up the name of the textee from the contacts list. A bit of a pain. Landscape keyboard...how exciting.

I'm one of the many who have had major problems. This is my third day without a phone. After a weekend googling I have the phone to the point where it needs a restore but now all I get is timeout messages.
Apple schmapple.

I was a little scared to be upgrading right away, given that my last upgrade to 2.0 didn't go smoothly at all. This time, however, was different. I'm happy to say that not only does everything work, it works much faster and more reliably than ever. Plus, 3.0 is just awesomely feature-rich. There are, of course, things I wish they had fixed and added to 2.0, but I'm overall quite happy.

3.0 upgrade on my original iphone has been great! Love the landscape keyboard. Very disappointed that they scrapped the voice dialing ala blackberry, the item I miss the most. Still left trying to find a suitable app.

I've been unable to download and install the 3.0 update for the last six days because of overloaded Apple servers. No solution, other than "wait and try later" has been offered by Apple.

Since I've updated to 3.0 my battery indicator does not go down. This morning it showed a full battery and then turned off on it's own. I plugged it in and the battery indicator on the screen then showed it was in the red.

Everything else seems to be working fine.

June 22, 2009 3:29 PM

Since I downloaded it I haven't been able to hear people on the phone. Occasionally I am able to have brief, 1 or 2 minute chats but then they go silent. They can still hear me. I'm currently attempting a system restore to see if that fixes it.

I have the original iPhone, if that matters.

Lot of battery issues, but I can' say I have any battery problems with new 3.0 update. However, 3.0 sucks. My apps either crash or don't work now. The ones that do work- they load so much more slowly now. This update was pure garbage. Also, I have more problems with calls never being received and then getting a VM the next day. I will consider going back to Verizon. Their service, tho not perfect, was rock solid 99% of the time. I don't care about early termination fees, I can easily get 300 bucks for my 8gb iphone on ebay. Buy a new phone and pay off my termination fees sounds like a win-win.

The cause of the battery drain I discovered is due to the new 'Push' function which obviously has a big flaw.
As soon as I turned it off, the battery life was normal again. And the phone was not running hot anymore. Now the phone is also faster then with 2.2

iphone 3G 8GB: Love lots of the great additions in 3.0 but Since upgrading my phone now gets hot and the battery life is about 8-10hrs with very very little use.

Please Apple, Help us out and fix this problem quickly!

I've now resorted to turning all the connectivity side of the phone off (no 3G/wifi/bluetooth/ and have turned off push email) in a hope to regain a few precious hours of battery life lol.

I too have the same battery issue. Also, I lost my wifi and can't seem to get it back. It shows the network but will NOT connect. This is my first stop, I will search for a solution to my wifi envy..lol
BTW I have the 3G and it took 8 tries and an iPhone reboot later to install the 3.0 software.

I upgraded my 3G to 30. Now, it will occassionally start in the middle of a song rather than the beginning when I FF to the next track in the playlist. Also has done this when playing the first selection after tapping “Shuffle.” I have to tap rewind then to get it start the song at the beginning.

PS: Battery drains are from Push. Turn it off and your battery will be fine.

I upgraded a 3G with zero storage left not even for one mp3. The upgrade went without a hitch. White balance on the camera was a drastic improvement. My battery life increased from one day to 3 days, but I normally keep Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned off. WunderRadio disappeared from the installed apps, but I was able to re-sync with iTunes and restored to the iPhone. Better search, better calendaring with Exchange.

There is a fault with any SMS sent to more than one recipient. 3.0 erroneously automatically chooses to send these as MMS. If the recipients do not have MMS then no message is received and you have no way of knowing.
To fix this bug you need to turn MMS OFF,(you can still RX MMS) and then turn it ON only when you want to send an MMS.

Power Supply problems are real but as referred to above are fixed by turning Push Off and using say 15 minute handshake.Works as well as before then.

Like Heidi, below, Since I've updated to 3.0 my battery indicator does not go down. It shows a full battery and then turns off on it's own at some random time. When I plug it in to the mains the battery indicator on the screen then shows it was actually in the red. I'm also missing calls i.e. The phone doesn't ring and I end up with voicemails.

Am an Iphone first gen user. Terrible problems. Email crashes, terrible battery life, (I HAVE TURNED OFF PUSH TO NO AVAIL). Spent over an hour on the Apple support line. I was told they are not aware of any of the these problem. This is looking like a huge fiasco.

I own a 3g and upgraded to 3.0 on the 22nd. At first it all appeared to be working fine.

HOWEVER, since then I have noticed that my apps regularly crash. I no longer have 3g service (wierd, but true... its been operating on edge). My battery life has reduced. I got a message saying "An unknown error has occurred" when I tried downloading any new app... is apple becoming microsoft?

I am very upset with os 3.0 and have lost that much faith in Apple.

I have a iPhone 3G and upgraded to the 3.0 software and have not had any problems except for an app that adds zoom to the camera. Everytime that I open it, it crashes. I have uninstalled and re-installed it several times and still no go. Haven't really had any issues with battery drain or slow downs. Seems to work just as before the upgrade. Love the landscape in e-mail and texting.

One or two days after I upgraded, all my contacts disappeared . . . I looked at my text messages and they were not showing contact information, but my address book still was . . . then a few minutes later, they were gone from address book as well.

I have MobileMe, and the contacts were wiped from MobileMe, my iPhone 3G, and my iMac at home. I have NO phone numbers available anywhere. I reported the problem on the 24th, told they are trying to "restore my data" but have had no contact since.

Ver 3.0 is as smooth as silk for me. No battery probs. Biggest frustration is the continued LACK of search across all fields in Contacts. Apple claims the new Spotlight will search the whole phone. It doesn't. Try searching for any data in the contacts that is not name, company or email address. You get nothing.
Why would you Apple software developers choose to ignore specific fields in a contact database?? Apple, come on. Let the Search function actually find the data I want!!

High battery drain after upgrading to system 3.0 on my 3G. Random crashes and inability to hold a wi-fi connection that worked perfectly before.
