Earlier this morning we got our greasy little hands a brand-spanking new iPhone 3G S. Our lead mobile analyst Sascha Segan has bravely agreed to sacrifice his weekend in order to be bring you a full hands-on review of the device. In the meantime, we managed to snag a couple of shots of the new handset when it first arrived at our offices.

After the jump, check out an unboxing and some close up shots of the eagerly anticipated phone--which, for the record, looks an awful lot like its eagerly anticipated predecessor.

Dammit, what's Verizon's early termination fee again?

Have a 3G which I purchased at the end of April 09. While I am happy with the phone, I am very disappointed in Apple / AT&T that they do not have a better priced upgrade program. If I had known the new phone was coming out in a couple of monthes I would have waited. Will make me more cautious with them in the future.

Same Problem, I bought the Iphone 3g in May. I would have never bought it if I knew Apple was releasing a new 3Gs phone. Bestbuy Did reimburse me the new price of the 3g 18GB. Still B.S. though. I have to at least wait a year or so to upgrade

In this case, I think the blame falls squarely on AT&T. Apple has made it clear that they're upgrading the iPhone every year, but AT&T still gravitates you to a 2-year contract. Part of it is knowing what you're getting into when you sign on with AT&T, and part of it is AT&T punishing anyone who wants a 1 year contract instead of a 2 year one. But in the end, we have to remember this is Apple's 3rd phone in 3 years - you won't be able to sign a 2 year contract and expect to get the next one cheaply, I'm afraid.

At least you all had the smarts to get the I Phone. Before a business trip too England I made the horrendous mistake of buying a Samsung(whatever)It is by far the worse 3G phone out there. As soon as I clear it through my company's budget I am going to suck it up and deal with AT&T and pay my ransome.

Has anyone had any luck on acquiring one in store? I went to my local AT&T (owned) store and purchased one with an expected deliverly of 7 to 10 days. Just wondering if anyone got that immediate gratification ...
