Afraid of dumping a couple hundred bucks into a shiny new iPhone 3G S, only to have the handset crap out you a few months later? When the eagerly awaited handset goes on sale on Friday, mega retailer Best Buy will be offering up insurance on the device for the weary among us.
Best Buy will be offering Geek Squad Black Tie Protection for the device on top of Apple's two-year extended AppleCare warranty--but I'll cost you. The retailer is expected to charge $15 a month for the coverage plan--that's up from the standard $7 to $10 for other phone models.
No one ever said peace of mind was cheap.

I had a computer problem two years ago and called Geek Squad. They charged me $100.00 and failed to fix the problem with the computer. I wouldn't buy anythiong from Best Buy that depended on Geek Squad for a fix or support!

Apple Care is the BEST. My Iphone died, out of warranty, and being a second owner. They overnited prepaid my bad phone to them and then sent a overnight replacement phone as soon as they received mine. Forget the Geek Squad, full time gamers, part time "IT" wannabee's that would jump on any entry level position at anyplace at minimum wage to get away from BB.

some people don't know the difference between extended warranty plane and insurance.
