In addition to debuting ten new games for the Xbox 360, Microsoft today kicked of E3 2009 by introducing a number of new features for the console's online counterpart, Xbox Live, including partnerships with Facebook, Twitter, Last.FM, and the U.K.'s Sky TV.
Music is coming to the platform thanks to an exclusive partnership with Internet radio provider, Last.FM.
The company introduced a number of additions to its existing partnership with Netflix, including the ability to browse categories directly from the Xbox, without having to go through a PC. And users in the U.K. and Ireland will be able to view movies and TV shows thanks to a partnership with Sky, which offers live TV, including cricket and soccer games, available without the need of any additional hardware.
The platform's video offerings will be renamed Zune Video, offering video selections in full 1080p. Zune Video will now be available in 18 countries, up from 8.
A newly announced partnership with Facebook will let users browse photos and enter status updates directly from their consoles. Xbox users will also be able to update users on their statuses via Twitter, thanks to a partnership with that company.

This is big news, Facebook in particular. Sony will have to pull something BIG out of the hat today to impress me now.

As if facebook wasn't slow and glitchy enough this will kill it

I wonder when they will start the integrations

These additions from Microsoft are great things, bringing the most popular internet communities to one of the most popular internet enabled devices.
My only suggestion is that Microsoft make the 360 or it's next console with the ability to install custom applications on it. Who wouldn't want the ability to use Opera or Firefox? Or have a custom Xbox menu? Even if they were just applications approved by Microsoft, it'd be nice to have more than the features given in manditory updates.

Sony's been able to do this right out of the box. I watch YouTube all the time, I get on Facebook (w/o flash), I even listen to Pandora. Soon I'll have Linux on it and do everything else. Took MS long enough to realize they have a computer, not a console.

yeah thats what i thought when i got a ps3 about 8 months back! knowing what you can have internet on a 40" screen, though the games suck ass.. Microsoft should of input a browser along time back.. let hope they pull their head out of their ass and do it soon!

i agree with the people who xbox needs to oull their heads out of their arse and give us a web browser, whats the hold up? plus i wouldnt consider the xbox a PC,the processer is way to weak. it can hardly keep up with the 'new experience' interfaced.

So this 'weak' prosessor the "3.2 GHz PowerPC Tri-Core Xenon" with a peak performance 115.2 GFLOPS, is worse then the prossessors that places like PC World ship out running Vista? NO it's way more powerful than that kind of thing I even bet unless your a PC Gamer or some type of Geek than it's better than your PC's prosessor.

My only disapointment with the last.fm is that you have to be a have a gold membership to use it. I understand that the PS3 has a bigger sticker price but xbox needs to learn a thing or two from sony and make there online expireance free to everyone.

Oh man, it's such a big deal to pay 50 bucks a year for xbox live. A homeless person could afford that.
