Ultimate Ears is known not only for its excellent consumer-level and high-end custom fit earphones, but also for its in-ear monitoring systems for touring bands. The trouble for most musicians is that those custom-fit monitors are expensive. Well, with today's announcement of the new UE 4 Pro custom-fit monitors, the excellent Ultimate Ears monitoring experience can be had for a mere $399.
I know, that's still a lot, and it also doesn't include the cost of
going to see an audiologist to get custom ear molds made. The UE 10
Pro, however, will run you $1,000, so this is quite a price decrease.
At $400, it's also conceivable that some audio enthusiasts who simply
want a custom-fit set will also check out the UE 4 Pro.
The UE 4 Pro works with wired or wireless live systems and can be
connected directly to the sound desk at clubs and concert venues, so
musicians can create custom mixes or choose to hear exactly what the
audience is hearing. Logitech, which owns Ultimate Ears, says the UE 4
Pro is available immediately. Visit ultimateears.com to learn more
about making an appointment with an audiologist and ordering the
monitors. Post by Tim Gideon

Considering Triple Fis run around $320-350, this is not a bad price at all. And they're worth every penny too. I have the Super Fis but had a chance to listen to Triple Fis and I must say I'm impressed by both
A bit funky looking though, don't you think?
My honest review of Super Fis here http://beerpla.net/2006/09/18/review-of-ultimate-ears-superfi-5-pro-earphones/ for comparison.

Excellent review of the UE 4. I agree with you when you say, "I know, that's still a lot, and it also doesn't include the cost of going to see an audiologist to get custom ear molds made" which is why I did a little homework and found a company Earsound Customs that sells a double driver in ear monitor for less then the UE 4 and it includes the cost of getting the impressions. The owner himself contacted me and told me where to go get the impressions done.
