The Tonium Pacemaker pocket DJ system, a lighter (60GB), less expensive version of the 120GB original, is now available in the U.S. Head over to Amazon where it's being sold for $499.99.
The Pacemaker combines a portable media player with full pro DJ capabilities, including two turntables and a mixer. Its two independent audio channels let you play two tracks at the same time. Click a button for beatmatching, then add crossfades or other effects. Instead of just listening to your music, the Pacemaker lets you interact with it--and also entertain at any event. The original made our list of 10 gadgets for wannabe DJs.
The Pacemaker is part of a larger platform from Swedish company Tonium. It also offers Pacemaker Editor software for free, for both Windows and Macintosh computers, which lets you play music and create your own mixes. There's also an online Pacemaker Community, where members can upload and share their creations.
