It's not often we hear about a car stereo that has built-in Zune integration. But GM continues to surprise lately, with the latest volley being native Zune support for the rip-roaring, tire-shredding 2010 Chevy Camaro. Zune Insider reports that Microsoft recently ran a successful test of the system, ahead of the car's rollout later this year, according to a Microsoft employee involved with the project.
If so, it would mark the first high-profile, manufacturer-backed car integration deal Microsoft is signing for its struggling music player line. Up until now, Zune fans have only had to choose form a small array of accessories and the lone, random aftermarket car stereo receiver to achieve Zune bliss when behind the wheel. That's because even PlaysForSure-compatible car stereos--of which there have been many--can't connect to the Zune or play Zune tracks, despite the fact that both DRM codecs come from Microsoft.
Regardless, if you're excited about Microsoft's secret ninja plans for next month, which will apparently involve some combination of a Zune, Windows Mobile 6.5, and various kitchen utensils, now's the time to put a deposit on a Camaro.
