A perennial complaint among musicians goes something like this: "Why waste your time perfecting Guitar Hero, when you can learn a real musical instrument?" The impending release of Activision's DJ Hero begs the question of whether that game will provoke a similar sort of reaction among DJs.

Like Guitar Hero before it, DJ doesn't really make an effort to teach actual music skills. Instead it adopts the design of its predecessor, with three colored buttons attached to a mock turntable.

Activision is also working on Guitar Hero 5 and an all-ages Band Hero title. All three are slated for a fall release.
