Looking for a better iPod recorder? Try Mikey.
Blue Microphones, better known for its studio mics, has just released Mikey, a versatile microphone for most iPods. Mikey connects to the bottom of your iPod, and is a great choice for anyone who needs to record lectures, interviews, or live music. I love that it's positionable up to 180 degrees, so you can angle it at whatever you need to record.
The company promises clear stereo recording with Mikey, and offers a user-adjustable gain control. There's no software required to use the mic, which can record up to four hours continuously. It also includes a speaker, so you can review what you've just recorded.
Mikey works with the iPod Nano 2G, 3G, and 4G; the iPod Classic, and the iPod 5G. Sadly, there's no iPhone support. You can pick one up from the site for $79.99.

Blue makes amazing products, this is pretty exciting. To put their level of quality in perspective, most of their studio microphones come in velvet lined cases made out of exotic wood.

Man, could they possibly tell us LESS about things like file formats, recording specs, etc? Given all the things they don't want to reveal, I'm not hoping for too much. Having been burned in this category of item previously, I'm not jumping on this bandwagon until they tell more about it.
