As we noted in a recent Appscout post, a study conducted by Pew found that roughly 60 percent of Internet users in the U.S. are still using their phones primarily for calls, rather than surfing the Web.

We want to know whether you've made the jump to the small screen for Web surfing. If so, what device are you using? If not, what's stopping you? Answer below, in the comments section.

Blackberry 8900.
Usually the primary built-in multibrowser.
Mainly stick to 'safe' sites like Reddit or Google Reader. I have netbook for when I need to go "FULL BROWSE".

I use my iPod touch for virtually all my Internet browsing, news, email, media, even bill paying. The laptop stays around for when I need word processing, flash, or other times when the scrolling or drop down menus on a page don't cut it with the touch.

I've used my phone for occasional surfing for years - from a Nokia 6100i that had only a WAP browser, through Nokia 6682, Nokia E62, eTen GloFiish, Samsung BlackJack II (might have missed a couple).

but since I work from home and have a laptop with me 80% of the time, most of my surfing is done on my laptop. If I had a 'real' job and could not surf using company machine, I'd no doubt surf with my phone more.

I use my Nokia N95 8GB every day on the train for news bites and the inevitable delay notice on NJ Transit. I use the built in minimap browser. Before that I used mobile Safari on the iPhone 2G, and before that mobile IE (shudder) on the TMob MDA.

I use my phone for a few things the phone browser seems slower than any computer network I log onto. Thats why I don't use it all the time I have set the phone up for fast internet access still I am not impressed maybe it is the network or the lack of the bandwidth in the area. I have AT&T on 3g but I do not see the 3g on my phone very often which is HTC tilt

Using my blackberry right now. Prefer the laptop but love the freedom of the pda/smartphone.

I have a Blackberry Curve 8900 and I use it as a browser for simple tasks...sports scores, weather, some youtube videos (the small print doesn't invite any more than a quick glance and my laptop is usually accessible)(from most to least used) 1) a music player (w/ Bluetooth stereo headset), 2) general PDA: calendar, tasks, contacts 3) a camera 4),and all the various other apps: alarms, bells & whistles, etc are all at #6.

Nope, my Nokia 5180 doesn't support web surfing.

I use my 1st gen iPhone everyday to access the web. In fact, I would say that I use the data aspect of the phone far more than the "call/talk" aspect. I basically have people trained to email or text first, resorting to the actual call as a last resort if neither of those work.

I use email and web surfing all the time at work (no computer in a truck). It does come in haddie when there is very little customer information. Plus it help while waiting for the next job to be put on the truck.

Have a Windows Mobile Smartphone [i.e. no touchscreen], Use it for email, multimedia use (video and audio playback), light web browsing, some location aware stuff [doing a live search to find a nearby business] and as a phone.

Not a perfect single device for any of these things but a million times better than carrying around 3-4 different things.

I have the LG dare from Verizon and rarely use it for surfing the web. Between the bad browser and horrible touch screen it is not very easy to surf the web.

I am not browsing the web on my phone. I would like to, but the jump to a real data plan is too great for me.

Yes, I use it everyday, my iphone gets more use than my laptop daily.

I own both an iPhone 3g and a Nokia N85 (I work for a cell phone store so I have phones and parts littering my apartment). I'm too cheap to pay for a data plan so I use Wi-fi when I can. It's great for use since I'm in college and WiLAN is available throughout the campus but I only indulge from time to time. I don't think I've ever used mobile internet browsing for anything constructive.

iPhone. Mobile Safari. Can't wait for the rumored blazing fast rendering engine in the new Safari. I browse more on the iPhone now than my desktop.

I surf on my phone everyday. I've stopped carrying my laptop 90% of the time.

I use my HTC Fuze everyday, to browse the internets. I had a Tilt before that, and did the same. Love the new Opera 9.4 browser, it kicks Pocket IE's butt! I augment that with Skyfire, as well. I tether w/my laptop for heavy lifting, but otherwise Opera/Skyfire/IE are a good enough cocktail, for what I need to do.
