It's probably a little cynical to suggest that Sony introduced new swiveling HDMI cables for the sole purpose of using the phrase "a new spin on cables" in today's press release. After all, swiveling does have advantages beyond mere punnage: The feature makes it easier to install audio and video components against walls, without putting too much stress on the cords.
The new DLC-HD10H, DLC-HD10V, and DLC-HD10H HDMI cables have connectors that swivel up to 90 degrees without compromising the 1080p resolution and 10.2-Gbps data output. The connectors click into place at 45 and 90 degrees.
The cords come in "vertical" and "horizontal" configurations, at 3 and 6 foot lengths, for $50 and $60, respectively.

A good idea, but is it worth the $$$. On Amazon 6' HDMI cable is $10 to $12. Is the swivel worth $50 more?

I love Sony products they last a very long time all of my electronics are made by Sony and I don't think that an HDMI cable should be more than $30.00 it's just a cable. However I Did pay $39.99 for my Sony HDMI cable so if for another $10.00 I can get the swiveling cable I think its worth. It even looks more durable

If anyone pays more than $10 for a six foot HDMI cable, they should apply for a job with the Obama administration. Obviously money means nothing to them.

I paid $17 for a high quality 15-foot HDMI cable at 10.5 Gbps with 24k plated connectors (but no swivel...awww) and that included shipping. It works perfectly and beside that, we're in a global recession so how does an overpriced swiveling cable help bolster the economy? Oh yeah, your studio apt. will seem bigger cause your components are closer to the wall...
