Looks like the press weren't the only ones to have this week's Apple announcement sneak up on them. Accessory manufacturers are apparently also scrambling to catch with the company. A number of headphone designers have announced that they're in the process of developing specialized models for the new iPod Shuffle. Both V-Moda and Scosche sent out press releases not to announce the availability of products, but to assure everyone that they were indeed on the case.

The newest iPod Shuffle, which Apple is perhaps hyperbolically referring to as "the world's smallest MP3 player," requires a special pair of headphones, since it doesn't actually have controls built in. For the time being, users are obligated to use the earbuds that the player ships with--and, as anyone who has ever bought an iPod can tell you, those proprietary headphones aren't the most comfortable things in the world.

Scosche's kind-of, sort-of announced models are the IDR350M, IDR450M, and IDR650M. The IDM part stands for "increased dynamic range." The headphones will feature a built-in mic and will run $49.99 to $99.99, the higher end of which, cynical parties might point is more than the Shuffle itself ($79.99).

V-Moda, meanwhile, is working on a pair of headphones set for a Q2 release. The Audio Volume Control (AVC) headphones are set to work with the Shuffle's new VoiceOver feature. Beyond that, the information is pretty scant.
