MacBook aficionados, don't feel left out of today's desktop announcements. The 15-inch MacBook Pro just jumped up to 2.93GHz.

The latest MacBook Pro 17-inch (unibody) was introduced with a 2.93GHz Intel Core 2 Duo as a CTO (Configure to Order) upsell, up from 2.66Ghz. Now, MacBook Pro buyers can also purchase a new 15-incher with a 2.93GHz Core 2 Duo processor for the same $300 upgrade price as the 17-inch model.

You'll have to start your order with the 2.66GHz 15-inch model, starting at $2,799. The previous 15-incher topped out at 2.8GHz.

This is sweet! I'm so pumped about it. Best news to come out of Apple in a long time I think.
