Video chat and recording? On the iPhone? Maaaaaybe. In our occupational obligation to bring you the dirty details on every last Apple patent comes this latest gem. Thanks again to the devoted digging of one blogger, a recent 355-page filing by the company has shed some light on the possibility of video recording and conferencing for the popular handset.
Says the patent of the device's built-in video camera,
In some embodiments, the functions may include telephoning, video conferencing, e-mailing, instant messaging, blogging, digital photographing, digital videoing, Web browsing, digital music playing, and/or digital video playing. Instructions for performing these functions may be included in a computer-readable storage medium or other computer program product configured for execution by one or more processors.

I can appreciate Apple adding features like this but if Apple wants to sell more IPhones they should make one that works on the Verizon network. This is an uptapped market for them, AT&T does not work well were I live, it would be a waste for me to switch from Verizon. If they announce a Verizon version I think their sales would soar, even in this business climate.

If this would actually be possible it would be great. I won't hold my breath. For the previous comment; I have a good friend that actually is a senior person at Verizon and Verizon was actually given the opportunity to take the Apple iPhone before ATT and they declined it (ouch- somebody got fired for that decision!!!). So it's not Apple's fault that Verizon doesn't have it, Verizon bought that on themselves!!! Which is a shame because Verizon is a great company.
