While my dreams of a television action series featuring Barack Obama fighting intergalactic criminals in space have once again been put on hold, science has happily given us the next best thing: Obama, from Space.

Google's Earth and Maps-making satellite, the Geo-Eye-1, was 423 miles above the earth's surface yesterday, taking shots of President Obama's historical inauguration ceremony. It was a clear day, and the shots are pretty impressive, featuring millions of viewers packed into the Washington Mall.

Check out more, higher res photos at the official Geo-Eye site.

Gee, instead spending dollars on pictures taken from the space why not stop that and use the money to help people that are in debt (homes, employee, etc.)
or social security benefits, I do remember Mr. Obama mentioned that He, will stop spending money on programs we don't need.......do we need to see pictures like this,? when we already spend hrs. on TV

Wow folks, the satellites are already there (these are the same satellites that give you Google Maps for crying out loud), and taking a photo and sending it to earth using one of them costs about as much money as using your cell phone's camera and sending a text.

..actually, it's probably less than that. Slow your roll and remember that investing in one thing doesn't mean you can't invest in something else too. :)
