The it's mind-blowingly useful HDMI Consumer Electronic Control (aka HDMI-CEC) technology basically turns your HDTV's remote control into a universal remote control, minus the headache of programming the universal remote control. If the HDMI port on your HDTV and the device plugged into it both support Consumer Electronic Control, the two devices can communicate and control each other, even if the products are two different brands.

Hi Meatcurry...welcome to the club! Yep, at the moment the PS3 doesn't support CEC, it's bizarre and unfortunate, hopefully they'll add support for CEC in a future software update.

Supposedly, Panasonic does this stunt to with their Viera protocol and they also supposedly do multiple brands. I've got one of their TVs but nothing else I have seems to talk to it. Isn't technology amazing!!??

I have a Sony LCD and PS3, the PS3 doesnt support CEC! How does that work?
