At CES 2009's Digital Experience event tonight, Qualcomm had four demo units actually running its new 1-Ghz Snapdragon processor. That's a big positive change from last year, when they were faking Snapdragon demos.
What's more: Qualcomm's Snapdragon machines were running a new version of the Google Android OS that supports wide-screen, 800x480 devices. A Qualcomm rep at their booth said they would add the widescreen code to the main Android library as soon as it was stable.
Showing the flexibility of the Snapdragon platform, Qualcomm also demoed Snapdragon chips on a prototype Windows Mobile device and on Linux netbooks. Snapdragon will compete with Intel's Atom and new Freescale chips on low-power-consumption, high-capability devices.
