Japanese gadget maker Thanko released another eyewear monitor called Video Glasses Lite. Unlike the All-In-One Media Player Glasses released earlier this year, Video Glasses Lite has no built-in or auxiliary file storage capacity. Instead, it relies on input from DVD players, handhelds such as iPods and the iPhone, consoles such as Nintendo Wii, Xbox and PlayStation, and any other device that has video playing capability. Additionally, its specs are a notch lower compared to those of the Media Player Glasses.
Instead of the 50-inch 432 x 240 pixels resolution projected image of the Media Player Glasses, Video Glasses Lite shows the equivalent of a 38-inch 320 × 240 pixels resolution display. Connectivity is via AV cable for easy attachment to consoles and players, and power supply could either be an external lithium-ion battery or three AAA batteries. If the lithium-ion option is used, six hours of charge is equivalent to four hours playback. Due to the decidedly more basic specs, Video Glasses Lite has a lower price tag of $220 compared to the $324 price of the Media Player Glasses.
