Today at Nokia World in Barcelona, the eponymous handset manufacture unveiled its latest smartphone, the N97. Referred to by the company as "the world's most advanced mobile computer," the phone features a 3.5-inch touch display and a slide out QWERTY keyboard.

The N97 also features a built-in A-GPS sensor and electronic compass, making it easier for the phone to sense its "social location," in order to update social networks with real-time information. The Web 2.0-friendly handset also features information about friends, news, and social networks on its home screen--and, unlike certain Apple phones, the thing can play Flash videos.

The handset has 32GB of on-board storage (expandable to 48GB), a 5MP camera with a Carl Zeiss lens, and DVD quality video capture. The phone will begin shipping in Europe in the first half of next year for EUR 550 ($693.44).

Has Nokia come out with the iPhone killer? I don't think so. But still a very good effort. Can't wait for it to be released here in India.

Best Wishes,
Shinil.
