There's been a lot of talk about a Mac netbook as of late, but it seems that few in the industry are holding their breath. After all, we've been burned plenty of times in the past when it comes rampant Apple speculation. Besides, the company has never really been known for its low price points.
Tired of waiting, some Mac fans have begun crafting their own Apple netbooks, installing OS X on some of the more prominent models that are already on the market. The results have been decidedly mixed. While the operating system works with many of the models, in most of the cases the installation cripples some essential feature, such as Wi-Fi, ethernet, Bluetooth, or audio.
Only two of the nine netbooks tested (including models from MSI, Dell, Asus, Acer, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung) supported all of the features, once OS X was installed--the MSI Wind and Dell Mini 9. Boing Boing Gadgets has a handy chart breaking down how the netbooks faired.

Some of the NC10 community members have got OSX running on their machines with some success. The difficulty is that as Apple do not distribute their OS it is not possible to do it legally right now. I wonder if Apple will at some point reconsider their position and change their terms of use accordingly?
