LG_GD910_CES.jpg

Anyone old enough to remember Dick Tracy will appreciate LG's new cellular watch, a 3G-enabled mobile phone that comes with a 1.4-inch touchscreen, text-to-speech capability, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios, and a music player. It also features built-in video conferencing, which many people don't use today but could take off with a novel product like this one.

The unfortunately-named LG-GD910 is 0.6-inches thick, water resistant, and works over 3G HSDPA 7.2 data networks. There's no mobile TV on board—but with voice and video calling, who needs it, really. LG announced the phone on Sunday but will debut it in person at CES next week; stay tuned. (Via eWEEK)

There is no way I would wear any kind of portable computer (electronic EMF emitting device)of any type
next to my body everyday. A cellphone is bad enough
in your pocket (Forget the ear-phone that close to your brain all day). The long term effects of electronics interfering with your own body's electrical signals hasn't been determined and I'm
not going to add my body to the "study" that needs to be completed.

Hey Archie,

You're going to die no matter how careful you are so you might as well enjoy life while you're still above ground.

I think Archie will outlive Jim swinging away from 3Gs to treetops and I'll pass on those ropes to anyone living as long as I am predicted to last...till 105yrs!!! I use a Jabra inside or outside home, car or anywhere... hate being seen and talking (yakking away) with my gsm in my hand against the ears!!!

ok, let's think about this...

Remember Casio's Calculator watch? How cool was that to have a big ol'calculator attached to your wrist, eh?

Sadly, even though the watch phone has a 'cool' geek and nostalgia factor going for it; the iPhone and it's clones won't let it get any speed. Can you see yourself downloading apps for 1.4" screen? For that matter, how does a human being (even some of us, ahem, "big people") effectively utilize that small touch screen?

Don't misunderstand me, I love technology and all the new toys that are being created and yes this one has a nice novelty flair to it but...I can't see it stomping all over the existing multitude of touch screen smart phones...with bigger screens...apps....etc..

I am sure Archie there can hang on to his old rotary phone and be able to stay away from the evil EMF's that this watch will send out...besides the crummy name (at this time) the price will probably force you back to a nice Samsung, Apple, or other comparable smart-phone.

Your fingers will thank you for that :)
