GM has announced that they are delaying construction of a Flint, Mich. plant that's slated to produce engines for the Chevrolet Cruze and the electric Volt, according to U.S. News & World Report, amid a scramble for a government bailout that finally seems to be on the way as of this morning.
GM Spokeswoman Sharon Basel said that the plant delay has no impact on the automaker's product programs—the Volt is expected to hit the market in 2010—but the report points out that the move directly contradicts the greening strategies that automakers laid out in their appeals for a bailout earlier this month.
