On the commercial side of things, Ford has released pricing for its new Ford Works Solutions technology package, which caters to commercial builders and other workers. The $2,815 package includes Internet access with a built-in printer, Tool Link (which uses radio frequency tag readers to keep track of tools on job sites) , Crew Chief (which monitors a fleet of vehicles in real-time), and Cable Lock (a basic locking package for the bed); there are also monthly fees associated with the various services.
Here's how it all breaks down: Crew Chief is available for $16 to $20 per month via a three-year contract; Sprint Wireless broadband costs $25 to $50 per month plus taxes and fees; and LogMeIn, a remote access tool, costs $50 per year. So for a total of about $80 per month, give or take, you can outfit a Ford F-150 or F-150 Super Duty. For more details, visit PickupTrucks.com. (via Autoblog)

I own a Ford tRANSIT cONNECT WITT THE WORK SOLUTION PACKAGE. aFTER THE 3RD REPLACEMEDT PACKAGE THE gARMIN GETS LOST ENROUTE, tHE tELEPHONE IS WXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY, AND THE COMPUTER IS A UNIT THAT HAS TO BE IN THE INTERNET TO FUNTION. IT HAS A USB PORT THAT TALKS TO ONLY A PRINTER. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP MORE THAN MY DRIVING. COMING HOME TONIGHT I CALLED 4 PEOPLE AND THEY ALL SAID THE SAME THING. TAKE THE RADIO OUT OF THE CAR AND BUY A HEAD SET. I FHINK MY NEXT MOVE IS LEMON LAW BECAUSE THEY REFUS TO REPLACE THE SYSTEM EVEN IF I CONTRIBUTE. THE PROBLEM IS NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT THE WINDOWS BASED SYSTEM. I HAVE SPOKEN TO WORK SOLUYIONS AND RETURNED IT TO THE DEALER AND GET IT BACK NO BETTER THAN BEFORE. i OWN 3 OTHWE VWHICLES WITH THE MOTOROLA IHF 1000 AND WHEN I TALK MOST OF THE TIME PEOPLE THINK I'M IN MY OFFICE. AM I UNHAPPY, YES
