It's not a real powertrain until there's a racing class for it. Electric vehicle fans will be pleased to find out that the 2009 edition of the Trophée Andros is set to start this upcoming weekend at Val Thorens in the French Alps, AutoblogGreen reports; essentially, it's a combination of EVs and ice racing.
The report said that this year marks the entrance of electric motorcycles into the two-wheeled portion of the competition, and also sees the third iteration of an electric ice-racing car called the Andros Car 03, designed especially for the series. Next year's season will feature a 100-percent electric car challenge featuring 10 of the new cars, which sport nickel metal hydride battery packs, 122 hp, and a top speed approaching 90 mph.
