It's not written anywhere that luxury sedans need to have 300 horsepower—especially when there is prodigious amounts of torque on tap. What Car? has tested the Audi A6 2.0 TDI e over in Europe. Basically, it's an A6 with the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Clean Diesel's four-cylinder mill installed.
The tiny turbodiesel engine pumps out 134bhp and 236lb ft of torque, but that's with a CO2 output of just 139g/km and average fuel economy of 53.3mpg (Imperial). It also sports sharp steering, a beautifully trimmed interior, and plenty of room for five passengers. The report said that Audi achieved the stellar economy figure via low-rolling-resistance tyres, brake-energy regeneration, a lowered sports suspension, and longer gearbox ratios in the six-speed manual transmission. So when are we getting one here in the states? (Via AutoblogGreen)
