Ford claims the Fusion will get at least 39 mpg city/ 37 mpg highway when the EPA numbers are calculated in the weeks ahead. But AutoblogGreen has done its own preliminary testing and landed a stellar 43.1 mpg in mixed driving—that's Toyota Prius and Volkswagen TDI territory.
It's a little early to uncork the champagne, since it's quite easy to fudge mileage numbers in any given test. But if the Fusion makes good on its promise to exceed the Toyota Camry Hybrid and Nissan Altima Hybrid's mileage by five mpg, it's a compelling case to make your next four-door family sedan a Ford. Here's hoping the EPA numbers match up.
