Toyota's upcoming microcar, the iQ, won Japan's Car of the Year award in a landslide, Inside Line reports. The panel of 65 jurors awarded the iQ 526 votes, which was more than 300 higher than the second place finisher, the Citroen C5, due to the perfect score of 10 that 39 jurors awarded the iQ.

The Toyota iQ features world-class crash protection, seating for three adults and a child, nine airbags, a 99g/km low-emissions 1.0-liter gasoline block with a continuously variable transmission. The report said that the iQ will go on sale in Europe early next year with a choice of gasoline and diesel engines, a six-speed manual gearbox and higher-performance tires than the Japanese version has.
