The Consumer Electronics Association just released a new study that found in-vehicle CE sales will grow at an estimated rate of 13 percent to $12.2 billion in 2008. According to the group, the reason for this growth lands at the feet of a new consumer segment—the technology enthusiast driver. Has a nice ring to it, no?
Here's some more detail on us, I mean, the new market segment: "Technology Enthusiast Drivers are early to mid-adopters of technology and regularly drive a vehicle that is either owned or leased by someone in their household. They are highly interested in emerging technologies such as voice-activated wireless communications, with 61 percent of Technology Enthusiast Drivers identifying the technology as desirable for their vehicle."
