The Nissan-Renault EV alliance will start delivering electric cars to the State of Oregon in late 2010 as part of the automaker's campaign to promote battery-powered transport. The agreement also provides for the state, along with the Portland General Electric utility, to develop a network of charging stations, The Detroit News reports.
A similar deal has already been made with the State of Tennessee, the home of Nissan U.S. headquarters. The effort also extends to Israel, Portugal and Denmark in a worldwide collaboration with the Israeli-based project Better Place. So far no specific models are being mentioned. However, a plug-in version of the Nissan Cube (above) is a likely candidate.
