Just two months ago we asked whether Porsche would ever return four cylinder sports cars. Thanks to the gradually toughening emissions standards all across the map, we now learn that the car maker known to most for record-setting performance will once again churn out 4-cylilnder cars.
Porsche already boasts a rich history of 4-cyl models, including the 356, 550, 914, 924, 944 and, most recently, the 968. This time the recipient of the automaker's new and improved 4-banger will be the entry-level Boxter - "the most economical Porsche ever", the British Autocar reports. Scheduled for 2011, the ultra-light engine will be turbocharged and most likely "offer just over 200bhp".
