An anonymous poster on Motor Trend's popular user forum (via Temple of VTEC) said that Acura may shelve the 2.2L i-DTEC diesel that's currently slated to appear in the TSX sedan, despite the fact that Honda engineers have been going on record talking about the engine for two years.
The poster indicated that the urea-free NOx catalyst isn't turning out to be sufficient to get the car to pass U.S. emissions tests when equipped with the automatic transmission. And as AutoblogGreen indicates, the automatic represents most of the market for the U.S., so if they don't succeed, the entire car could be nixed as a result. There's no word on the claim's veracity, and Honda PR have so far refused to comment on the matter.
