When you think of South Africa, what is the first thing that comes to mind? The answer to that question may soon be "Joule" - a roomy EV concept that made its way to the Paris Auto Show all the way from Cape Town.

Made by a South African startup Optimal Energy, the Joule boasts an impressive list of MPV-like qualities. While the likes of Tesla Roadster entice green-minded drivers with breathtaking performance, the all-electric Joule sells practical family transportation, offering three front seats and enough room to rival a full-size SUV.

Its shell may be wonky and its interior less than original. But, when it comes to an open road, the Joule is no slouch. According to Jalopnik, this EV is highway ready and tops out at almost 84 mph. Even more impressive is that car's range of 250 miles when equipped with two concurrent battery packs.
