For those who eagerly awaited to see Honda's looming Prius fighter, the weeks between the automaker's decision to revive the Insight and the car's live unveiling were a trying time. But now the wait is over and Honda's latest hybrid can be seen in all its hi-tech glory at this year's Paris Auto Show.

Honda president and chief executive Takeo Fukui sharpened the public's appetite by taking the wraps off the company's newest gas sipper set to go on sale in the spring of 2009. Its shell represents the best of Honda's lineup all merged into one sleek hatch: Civic upfront, FCX Clarity from the back. The styling cues of both vehicles are also visible throughout the dashboard, which seems to rely almost exclusively on digital instrumentation.

"With gas prices the way they are, we think a stylish and fun hybrid is the right car at the right time," says Honda's new Insight blog, reporting from Paris and even referencing local gas prices. "There's a lot of speculation and misinformation out there. But one thing's certain: People are interested in and talking about this new choice in hybrid technology."
