You know your racing games are more life-like than ever when you see billboard ads featuring presidential candidates along your virtual race track. Promos of Barack Obama and his campaign website, voteforchange.com, appeared in the Xbox 360 online racer Burnout Paradise.
As far as we know, this is the first time politics has crossed into the gaming realm, making Obama the first Presidential candidate to fish for votes in the online racing community. "Like most television, radio and print outlets, we accept advertising from credible political candidates," said spokesperson from Electronic Arts, the maker of Burnout Paradise. "Like political spots on the television networks, these ads do not reflect the political policies of EA or the opinions of its development teams."
Judging by this Jalopnik-featured screenshot, the Obama billboards seem pretty unobtrusive; unless of course you are a McCain supporter, in which case the ads can get pretty irritating pretty fast.
