If vehicle design is all about taking risks, then the Nuvu Concept -- Nissan's miniature EV -- is a poster child for fresh, bold aesthetics. Unwrapped at the Paris Auto Show, the Nuvu seduces you with its curvy cuteness and welcomes you into one of the brightest and most genial cabins I have ever seen.
Step inside and note a twirling pillar, which Nissan fittingly calls the "tree trunk." It blends into the roof topped with a solar panel to communicate a perfectly floral milieu. The decision to prop up the cabin is also a practical one, since the scenic dome is mostly glass. Of course that is largely a show floor gimmick, offering little in the way of safety that can translate to a plausible production model.
My only real gripe with Nuvu's otherwise stunning design is the way in which Nissan robbed the car of even the faintest trace of testosterone. As a firm believer that colors are gender-neutral, Nuvu's paint job and interior hues bother me less than the flower-like controls slapped right on the steering wheel. That said, the dash is totally tech and looks just like your game console at home. You can find more photos of the Nuvu at Autobloggreen.
