The T-Mobile G1 handset has been getting an awful lot of buzz lately, as the first phone to support Google's long-awaited open Android OS. Sascha looked at the phone last week and gave it fairly good marks, calling it "a valiant effort." Still, as anyone who's jumped on the early adopter bandwagon can tell you, waiting until there's more competition is a good idea.
Motorola, for one, is getting ready to throw its hat in the Android ring. According to BusinessWeek, the handset manufacturer is working on a new Google-friendly handset that features "an iPhone-like touch screen, a slide-out qwerty keyboard, and a host of social-network-friendly features."
Motorola has been showing off specs and images to carriers worldwide and is hoping to introduce the phone in the second quarter of 2009.
