The Mercedes-Benz S400 BlueHYBRID won't be the only hybrid from the venerable German automaker to arrive in the states. eGMCarTech is reporting that following the S-Class hybrid, Mercedes-Benz will introduce an E-Class hybrid when the next-generation model arrives in 2010, along with a C-Class hybrid on the next model refresh in 2011.
In addition to the Mercedes hybrids, the report said that in 2012, Daimler will begin building between 12,000 and 15,000 electric Smart ForTwos annually, some of which will also end up for sale in the states.
"We have decided on hybridization on all of our cars in the future and so far we have had a lot of questions and excitement, but I don't know how that will translate into a take rate," Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. Here's hoping they sort out that weird automatic transmission in the ForTwo before then.
