MDI, a European company manufacturing air-powered cars, has added a funky new model to its zero-emissions lineup. The tiny AIRPod has the footprint of a phone booth, but packs enough zest to take you 130 miles on nothing but air.
The car has room for three. However, if your passengers suffer from motion sickness, the AIRPod may not be for you since it looks like somebody will be forced to sit backwards. With its giant glass doors and a delicate shell, the car doesn't exactly instill one with a sense of safety either. Fortunately, designed strictly for urban driving and gated communities, the AIRPod will not go faster than 40 mph.
Though the AIRPod is bound to remain in Europe after its 2009 debut, MDI has also pledged an air-powered model -- most likely the FlowAIR -- to the U.S. market. Read more about the AIRPod at GoodCleanTech or visit MDI here.
