Kyocera announced today that it will become the latest cell phone manufacturer to toss its hat into the Google Android ring. The company issued a press release announcing that it is currently working on a "new product platform incorporating Android mobile software."
Kyocera will be collaborating with device software optimizer (DSO), Wind River, a company involved in the Open Handset Alliance.
"Our adoption of the Android platform further exemplifies how Kyocera Wireless is driving the convergence of telecommunication, broadband and multimedia technologies in mobile devices," said Kyocera VP Dave Carey. "We are committed to developing compelling consumer devices that leverage our robust technology portfolio. Our goal is to make Kyocera the leader in Android integration among CDMA device manufacturers in the markets we serve."
