Hyundai Motors announced last week that it plans to roll out hydrogen fuel cell cars, promising to launch commercial production in 2012. Korea's largest automaker signaled that the first production H-ride could come 3 years after the arrival of the hybrid Hyundai Avante.

Barring its assurance of a massive undertaking in the area of "research-and-development in order to roll out the vehicle" as promised, the company had little to say about the actual model and gave no specifics on a type of propulsion it plans to employ, Cleantech reports. However, Hyundai's i-Blue Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) concept (pictured above), first introduced at the Frankfurt Auto Show last year, could serve as a technical blueprint for the upcoming model.
